Happy New Year!
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting term ahead.
A Fresh Start for Everyone
January is such a special time – it's a chance for all of us to make a fresh start and set new goals. Whether you're aiming to read more books, try a new activity, or make new friends, this term is full of possibilities. We're here to support every child to achieve their very best, and we can't wait to see what you'll accomplish.
Getting Stuck Into Our Learning
This term, we have so many exciting things planned! Our teachers have been busy preparing engaging lessons and activities that will challenge and inspire you. From exploring new topics in the classroom to creative projects and hands-on learning, there's something for everyone to enjoy and excel at.
Every class will be going out on a trip this term. These visits will bring our learning to life and give everyone the chance to explore, discover and experience new things together. We'll share more details about each trip very soon.
We know that when we work together – children, teachers, and families – amazing things happen. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude make our school such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Be a 2%er!
This term, we're looking forward to celebrating lots of children being 2%ers – those special people who do everything just a bit better than they have to! Being a 2%er means:
- Going the extra mile in your work
- Showing that little bit more kindness
- Putting in extra effort to help others
- Taking pride in everything you do
- Being the best version of yourself
It's not about being perfect – it's about always trying to do your best and giving that little bit extra. We know you can all be 2%ers, and we can't wait to celebrate you when you are!
Remember Our School Rules
As we start this new term together, let's all remember our three important school rules:
Ready – Come to school prepared to learn, with a positive attitude and everything you need
Respectful – Treat everyone with kindness, listen carefully, and value each other's differences
Safe – Look after yourself and others, follow instructions, and make good choices
When we all follow these rules, our school is a happy, successful place where everyone can thrive.
Every Day Matters
I know I'm always talking about attendance – and there's a very good reason for that! Attendance really does make all the difference to your child's learning and progress.
At the end of last term, when we looked at children's progress across the school, we could clearly see how closely it aligned with their attendance. The children who were in school every day, ready to learn, made the best progress. Every lesson missed is learning that's hard to catch up on, and every day in school is an opportunity to move forward.
We understand that sometimes absence is unavoidable when children are genuinely unwell, but being in school every day possible gives your child the very best chance to:
- Keep up with their learning and build on what they know
- Develop strong friendships and feel part of our school community
- Build confidence and resilience
- Achieve their full potential
Let's work together this term to make sure every child is here, every day, ready to learn and succeed. Your child's attendance really does matter – to them, to their classmates, and to all of us at Southill Primary.
Let's Make This Term Brilliant!
We're so excited to have you back and to see all the wonderful things you'll achieve this term. Let's make it a term to remember – full of learning, laughter, friendship and success.
Here's to a fantastic spring term at Southill Primary!
With warmest wishes,
Caroline
