Leeson House Residential

What an amazing three days we have had at the incredible Leeson House! The children have experienced a huge array of different activities and lots of delicious food!
They have worked as a team during the team building activities and spent lots of time, talking, laughing and problem solving.  They also took park in some bushcraft, creating sparks with steel and flint to light the fibres of cotton wool and creating a small fire.  They then added Vaseline, which makes the flame hotter and last longer, after that they added sticks and twigs to create little fires on their shovels.  It was a lovely winter scene and a very calm atmosphere.   Then there was pond dipping, which brought a lovely surprise when two of the children scooped out two great crested newts! It was a beautiful sight to watch the children observe these beautiful creatures swimming about so up close.  The class also found water boatmen, hoglouse, bloodworm and dragonfly larvae.
Later on the children took part in an animal trackers activity where they studied information about a variety of animals and matched the information to the correct picture.  They were fully absorbed and engaged in this wealth of information.

After changing into Christmas outfits we all enjoyed a very delicious Christmas dinner with crackers.  After dinner the children bought some souvenirs in the shop and then changed into pyjama’s and settled in the lounge to have a Christmas story read by their teacher.  The children got sleepy, calm and settled and we slowly started sending them up to bed for their last night.

It has been an incredible time and one for the memory bank.
