Masters with magnets!

Magnetic Masters

 Continuing with our Science unit, Forces and Magnets, the children explored different metals and metallic objects to see if they were magnetic or non-magnetic.  Before having a magnet, the children were given a variety of materials to handle and were asked to make a prediction as to whether it would be magnetic or non-magnetic.  There was lots of discussion and reasoning and once all children had made their predictions magnets were handed out.  The children really enjoyed feeling the 'pull' of the magnet and watching the magnetic objects move towards to magnet.   One group tricked me into thinking that aluminium foil was magnetic, by wrapping magnetic objects up in it!
