One Small Step for Man… One Giant Leap for Year 5!
This half term, Year 5 are blasting off into an exciting new topic: Earth and Space. Before diving into our Literacy Tree text Hidden Figures, the children have been hard at work researching and writing their very own informative webpages all about NASA.
From dramatic mission failures to the thrilling Space Race, from world-famous astronauts to the cutting-edge International Space Station, they’ve uncovered a galaxy of fascinating facts about the history of space exploration. Using books, online sources and our very own toolkit, they thought carefully about how to organise their ideas with clear subheadings. Along the way, they’ve been experimenting with ambitious vocabulary, fronted adverbials and engaging sentence openers to make their writing shine.
The finished pieces are truly out of this world and will now take pride of place on our classroom display. 🌟
