Spotting Feathered Friends with the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch!

We certainly ended the week on a high with a fun-filled Friday that put smiles on everyone’s faces! After a rather grey start to the day, we were very lucky that the weather cleared up this afternoon and we were treated to some lovely sunshine. This meant we could venture outside and make the most of the fresh air.

I signed our class up to take part in the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch, giving the children the opportunity to explore what birds live in and around our school grounds. Armed with keen eyes and lots of enthusiasm, we began our birdwatch on the bottom playground, then moved on to the KS2 playground, before finishing up on the top field.

We were incredibly lucky and managed to spot lots of different birds along the way. The children were so excited and fully engaged in the activity. It was wonderful to see them carefully observing, identifying different birds, and listening to their conversations as they shared what they had spotted with their friends. Some children even found hiding spots to camouflage themselves, so the birds would not be frightened!

The afternoon was filled with curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of excitement. A perfect way to end the week! 🐦‍⬛☺️
