Super stars at Stonehenge!

On Wednesday morning, we all set off very early before the rest of the school arrived, so we could get to Stonehenge to explore its historical magnificence!  The children were very excited as we climbed aboard the coach and settled in for the long journey.  When we got there, we got straight onto the shuttle bus as marvelled at the 5,000 year old stones and burial mounds.  The children listened patiently as I read out the information boards and they started to put the pieces we had learned in class together as we looked at the stone circle and surrounding area.

Later on the children were able to handle some excellent replicas including a beaker, some bronze, a deer skin bag and antlers as well as hold an ACTUAL 5,000 year old stone that was ACTUALLY held by a neolithic person to carve Stonehenge!! How incredible!

We were treated to a 360 presentation of what the stones would have looked like, before they began to erode and fall.  They witnessed what both the summer and winter solstice would look like and were given a brief but excellent description by our guide Marion.

A wonderful day had by all!
