Whose footprints were those?
Year 1 were not expecting the morning they had today!
As the children walked into the classroom, they stopped in their tracks. Stretching across the classroom were huge, white footprints. They were much bigger than any grown-up’s shoes and looked very mysterious indeed!
The classroom buzzed with excitement as everyone shared their ideas about who they might belong to. Some children were convinced it was Father Christmas taking a wrong turn back to the North Pole. Others thought it could be a cheeky elf playing tricks on us. One or two even wondered if it might be Bigfoot himself!
The footprints led us to a rolled-up scroll. We gathered together on the carpet and carefully opened the scroll to reveal a message…
It was from Yeti!
In the letter, Yeti told us that he had been feeling very lonely. He didn’t have any friends and had heard that Year 1 were the perfect children to befriend him. He wondered if we would help him learn how to be a good friend and make him feel welcome.
Of course we would help!
To show Yeti what a wonderful class we are, we decided to make friendship cards. Each child drew a beautiful picture of themselves with Yeti and wrote about what they could do to make him feel happy. There were so many thoughtful ideas. Some children said they would play games with him so he wouldn’t feel left out. Others said they would share their toys, read him stories, give him hugs or tell him a joke to make him laugh.
Year 1 proved that we really are fantastic friends to have, and we can’t wait to see what adventures might happen next in our classroom!
