Witness the Fitness

In the first half of Spring term we learnt all about Fitness in PE!

We had so much fun developing our balance, co-ordination, strength and stamina through lots of different games and activities, whilst also working on our speed and agility.

As always, we start our PE lesson with a warm up. This helps to get our heart rates up, making us breathe faster and move blood around to our muscles quicker. Our favourite warm up game was 'hats'. This is where we move around the cones, focusing on speed, awareness and agility. Once the whistle is blown and we hear the word 'hats' we have to run to the nearest cone and put it on our head!!

Once our bodies were warmed up we moved onto the new learning and development of skills. We enjoyed lots of different games and activities each week. Some of our favourites were...

Skipping games - such as helicopter and multiplication maker where you count in different multiples as you jump over the rope.

Agility and Speed games - our favourite game was 'fill it up' where you have to race your opponents to collect the cones/beanbags from the central circle. Once they are gone it's time to STEAL!

Strength activities - this included using the exercise alphabet to spell out words and match them to the movement. For example 'jump'

J - 10 star jumps

U- 5 hops on each foot

M- 10 lunges

P-  15 in and outs

We had SO much fun with this lesson spelling out our friends names for our partner to try!!

PE during the first half term was chilly, but brilliant! It was amazing to see everyone engaged in their learning whilst having fun with their friends.

I am really proud of you all Year 2!

Well done
