Y6: Musical Rhymes for Anti Bullying Week

This week was anti bullying week across the nation. In year 6 we all agreed that every second of every day should be for anti-bullying, however we learnt all about the importance of marking such an essential issue with a dedicated week in which we can focus, reflect and work on changing the issues at hand.

As part of our vital PSHE curriculum, year 6 were set the challenge of creating a piece of music that shows our understanding of how heavily bullying can have a negative impact on people, and what we can do about it.

We decided that the best route was to choose a song that the class know and love, and change the lyrics to create our own anti-bullying anthem. Always a class to be on point with the current trends (just try teaching a maths lesson involving the numbers 6 and 7), the class voted for the song "Your Idol" from KPop Demon Hunters. This proved to be a great musical backdrop for our lyrics due to its confident, emotive and defiant backing and melody which all signal independence and strength.

The adapted lyrics were all written, learnt and performed by Year 6 as a rap and song in a very short amount of time with very little rehearsal!

The verse says how it feels to be bullied, the pre-chorus is what we would want to say to a bully, and the chorus outlines what we can do if we're feeling bullied.

Well done, year 6!
