Year 4 reinactment of Ancient Greece

Year 4 travelled back intime!

As part of our history topic, the children didn’t just learn about Ancient Greece – they travelled back in time to 490 BCE, right on the brink of the Persian invasion. With the danger looming, our brave historians found themselves stepping into the sandals of two very different Greek city-states: Athens and Sparta.

🏛 First Stop: Athens
In Athens, we explored how Athenians valued democracy, relied on trade to build their economy and what education looked like for the children. There were passionate discussions about what life was like for the people of Athens and how that was very different for men and women.

Next Stop: Sparta
Then we marched straight into Sparta and what a contrast! The children experienced life in a city built on discipline, strength and bravery. They learned about Spartan soldiers, tough training and the importance of loyalty and courage. You could almost hear the clanking armour and feel the determination in the room!

🤝 An Unlikely Alliance
With Persia preparing to invade, something extraordinary happened…
Despite their differences, Athens and Sparta formed an alliance. Our Year 4 time-travellers had to work together to prevent the Persian Empire expansion.
