Writing
Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.

Why do we teach writing?
At Southill Primary, we are committed to fostering a love for writing among our pupils. Our text-led writing curriculum is designed to inspire creativity, enhance communication skills and build confidence in every child. We provide a supportive environment where all our pupils can explore various writing styles and genres.
Our children love to read and so we wanted to harness this enthusiasm and bring the excitement and energy that we feel for reading to our writing curriculum. We chose a text-led curriculum using the Literacy Tree framework because we believe it will foster a rich, engaging, and comprehensive literacy experience for our pupils. The Literacy Tree approach is designed to develop a deep love of reading and writing through carefully selected texts that align with our educational goals as a diverse and inclusive school.
Through engaging lessons, our dedicated staff guide pupils to develop their writing skills, from constructing simple sentences to crafting detailed narratives and persuasive texts. By prioritising individual progress and celebrating achievements, we ensure that each child finds their unique voice and enjoys the writing journey.
