Tennis Triumph! Southill Retain Their Mixed Doubles Trophy!
What a phenomenal day of tennis for Southill Primary School as we proudly retained our mixed doubles trophy!
After last year’s success, the eight children chosen to represent Southill had BIG shoes to fill - and they rose to the challenge magnificently.
A Morning of Skills, Smiles and Super Progress
The day began with an action-packed morning of skills and drills designed to stretch and challenge the children. They worked on:
-Forehand and backhand technique
-Serving with accuracy and control
-Clearing the net consistently
-Court positioning and movement
-Tactical awareness in doubles play
The improvement across the morning was incredible. Confidence grew with every drill, teamwork strengthened, and their understanding of doubles tactics developed hugely. The energy, focus and determination on display were brilliant - and the children had so much fun learning and improving together!
Before we knew it, it was time for the matches…

Champions Once Again! 🏆
Both teams played magnificently. The determination, sportsmanship and encouragement shown throughout the day made us incredibly proud. The progress in their technical skills, tactical understanding and confidence was a joy to see — from morning drills to afternoon match play, the improvement was clear.
And the result? The trophy remains firmly in Southill hands!
A huge well done to all eight children for their hard work, teamwork and superb effort. You represented the school brilliantly.
Thank you to Mrs Murray for supervising and supporting the children throughout the event - we are very grateful.
It was also fantastic to see former Southill pupils Lexi, Jess and Lenni-Jay leading the morning activities and umpiring in the afternoon. Seeing their leadership and confidence in sport is exactly what we aim to instil in our children before they leave us.
What a day. What a team. What champions!
