AI AI Captain! Meet Our New Maths Tutor.

Should I be worried? Am I being replaced by robots?!

It certainly feels a little like that! However, I have to admit… what a clever bit of software this is.

We’re delighted to introduce Third Space Learning, an exciting AI-powered maths programme that gives pupils their very own virtual maths tutor.

The clever part? It doesn’t simply give children a set of questions and mark them right or wrong. The AI responds to their answers and adapts its teaching, questions and support depending on how each child is getting on.

If a child is struggling, it can scaffold their learning, break things down and provide additional support. If they’re flourishing and flying, it can stretch and challenge them further. Essentially, it meets children where they are and helps them take that next step. Pretty impressive stuff!

Even better… EVERYBODY in Year 6 has access!

Southill has provided every pupil with their own login, which means children can access Third Space Learning from home using a tablet, laptop, computer or Chromebook.

We’ll also be giving children opportunities to use the programme in school.

This is an expensive resource for the school, so we would absolutely love to see children making the most of it at home. If everyone gets stuck in and uses it regularly, we really believe it could have a positive impact on their mathematical confidence, fluency and understanding.

So, am I worried about being replaced by a robot?

Not quite yet… although I may have to start being a little nicer to the photocopier, just in case!
