Dance Festival at Wey Valley Academy

Today, ten children from Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic time attending the Dance Festival at Wey Valley Academy, joining pupils from seven other schools for an exciting day of dance, learning and performance.

The eight schools were split into three groups, each led by enthusiastic Year 10 Dance Leaders from Wey Valley Academy, who helped everyone learn the choreography.

Starting with a quick warm up, the day began with learning the moves to the chorus of 'Dancing on My Own', before moving on to the ending of the song, where the children also had the opportunity to show off some exciting tricks! They then worked on the beginning of the dance before putting all the sections together to create the full routine.

After a busy morning of dancing, the girls enjoyed a slightly later lunch than usual before coming back together for one final run-through. There was a real sense of excitement as everyone prepared to perform their dance in front of a group of parents.

All ten children did a fantastic job, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork and determination throughout the day. It was wonderful to see them rise to the challenge, learn a new routine and perform with confidence.

A big thank you to Wey Valley Academy and the Year 10 Dance Leaders for organising such an enjoyable experience and making everyone feel so welcome. Well done to all involved!
