This week, Year 4 transformed into a team of brilliant archaeologists as we embarked on our very own classroom dig and what a discovery it was!

⛏️ A Mysterious Discovery

The children arrived to find a “dig site” filled with carefully buried artefacts. With great excitement (and impressive patience!), they gently uncovered objects, fragments, and clues hidden beneath the surface.

There were gasps, guesses and lots of curious questions as each item was revealed. what could it all mean?

🔍 Cracking the Clues

Once the artefacts were uncovered, the real challenge began. The children worked together to:

  • Examine each object carefully
  • Discuss what it might be
  • Infer what it could tell us about the past

Using their detective skills, they pieced together clues to uncover the story behind the objects. The classroom was buzzing with ideas—everyone had a theory!

🤔 Questions to Ask at Home

Keep the investigation going with these questions:

  • What is an artefact?
  • What did you find during the dig?
  • What clues helped you understand the story?
  • Why do archaeologists need to be careful when digging?
  • What do artefacts tell us about people from the past?

🌟 Final Discovery

The excitement in the room was unforgettable—every discovery felt like uncovering a real piece of history. Year 4 proved they have the curiosity, teamwork, and imagination of true archaeologists.

Who knows what we’ll dig up next…? 👀
