Dissecting flowers in science
Even though it has been a shorter week due to the bank holiday, year three have been very busy! This week they were making observations and recording information about what is inside a flower. The children very carefully used tweezers and magnifying glasses to peel away petals and sepals to see right into the inside of a flower.
I could hear the children enthusiastically calling out the parts as they found them and compared them to the labelled diagram they had near by.
After dissecting the flowers we put them back into nature in our playground. We thought it best they went back outside rather than put in a bin. This way nature can use what it needs or recycle it without any harm to the environment.
