The Great Fire of Southill
What an exciting morning!
As part of our Great Fire of London topic, all the children have been making houses out of cardboard, and straw to replicate those in London in 1666. We have been focusing on what it was like to live in London in 1666 and the children understand that the houses were mostly made out of wood, making them burn easily.
We made a street, stuffed the houses with straw and set them on fire! Luckily for us, our wonderful local fire brigade came in to check that we were all safe and put the fire out properly. Wow!
The fire spread just like it had in London. The children could see the flames passing from house to house and it was aided by a strong breeze, just like in 1666!
A huge thank you to White Watch for coming in this morning - you made our day!
