Transition day!

It was wonderful to meet my new class this week!  On Tuesday morning the children came in, introduced themselves and I talked a little bit about me too.  The children completed some activities that will be used in September ready for their arrival into their new class.  The children coloured in bookmarks with their name on it, ready for their new books and also created their own portraits.  The children were given a blank face shape and shown how to use ripped up paper of different colours to 'colour in' the face and create hair and accessories.  They were so creative and came up with some wonderful ways to show what is special about them.  Since we had three birthdays to celebrate as well, I thought it would be nice to ask the children to use tissue paper to design a balloon, which will them be displayed in class with ribbon on our birthdays display.  Also, each of the children created a birthday card with a nice message inside, so that when it is someone's birthday, they can choose at random a card from their class.

The children also explored their new playground and equipment, which we will have more transition with next term.  I am really excited to teach them all next year, I hope they are just as excited!
