Welcome to SUMMER '26!

Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting term here at Southill Primary! I hope you've all had a restful Easter break and that the children have returned refreshed and ready for the learning ahead.

A Term Full of Engaging Learning

As we settle back into our routines, there's genuinely so much to look forward to across the school. Staff have been planning some really engaging learning experiences that will see our children exploring new themes right across the curriculum. Whether it's in English, maths, science or any of our foundation subjects, we're committed to making sure every child is challenged, inspired and excited about what they're discovering in their classrooms.

Supporting Our Bright Futures Curriculum

Part of that excitement includes the continued development of our Bright Futures Curriculum. As we refine and enhance our curriculum, we're ensuring that our resources- including our libraries and classroom materials- align closely with the rich, ambitious learning experiences we want our children to have. Reading remains at the heart of everything we do and we're thrilled to be able to offer our children access to texts and materials that truly support the vision and values of our Bright Futures approach.

Important Communications This Week

I wanted to give you a heads-up about a couple of important things coming your way this week.

On Friday, your child's mid-year snapshot report will be emailed home in preparation for parent consultations next week. This provides a helpful overview of how your child is getting on with their learning, their current attainment and their attendance. The report also outlines the key targets we'll be focusing on throughout the rest of the term. Please do take time to read through it and use it as an opportunity to celebrate progress and discuss next steps with your child.

Also arriving this week is our Term Talk curriculum newsletter. This is one of my favourite communications we send out because it really gives you an insight into what's happening in your child's classroom. It's packed with information about the learning themes, the key skills we're focusing on and practical ways you can support learning at home. I'd encourage you to have a read through and perhaps use it as a conversation starter with your child about what they've been up to in school over the term.

Looking Forward Together

The energy in the building as we've returned has been wonderful. The children have settled quickly and staff are buzzing with ideas and enthusiasm for the term ahead. It's a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated team and such engaged learners.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Southill Primary. We're looking forward to a brilliant term together.
