Whatever the Weather, Southill Succeeds!
Southill are made of strong stuff! Today, 12 determined pupils from Year 3 travelled to Weymouth Beach to take part in an exciting multi-skills festival and what an adventure it turned out to be.
With grey skies overhead, strong winds sweeping across the sand and occasional bursts of rain, the children could easily have let the weather dampen their spirits. Instead, they embraced every challenge with huge smiles, endless enthusiasm and incredible resilience.
Throughout the day, the pupils enjoyed a variety of activities including cricket, handball, ultimate frisbee and rugby. The windy conditions certainly added an extra challenge! Frisbees took unexpected journeys, balls bounced unpredictably across the sand and gusts of wind tested the children's determination. Despite this, the Southill team threw themselves into every activity with confidence, energy and a fantastic attitude.
It was wonderful to see the children encouraging one another, celebrating successes and showing great sportsmanship throughout the event. Whether sprinting across the beach, perfecting their throwing skills or working together as a team, every child gave 100% and represented the school brilliantly.
The children not only developed their sporting skills but also demonstrated important values such as perseverance, teamwork and courage. By the end of the festival, windswept hair, sandy shoes and rosy cheeks were clear signs of a day well spent!
A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Walkinshaw, Emma and Rocco for accompanying and supporting the children throughout the day. We would also like to thank Dorset School Games and the students from Weymouth College for organising and delivering such engaging and enjoyable activities despite the challenging weather conditions.
The weather may have been wild but our Year 3 pupils were even tougher. Well done, Team Southill!
