Y2 Transition Day!

We had a lovely couple of days last week when the children came to try out being Year 2's!

The children settled into their new classroom and we started our morning together looking at the story, Grandad’s Camper. The book focuses on visiting places that you have always wanted to see with loved ones. We used this story as our starting point to learn a little bit more about each other and our families, focusing on who we would go with and where we would take them! We then completed our own camper van pictures at the tables.

The structure of this activity loosely followed our day-to-day writing lesson so it was great practise for September!
After sharing our amazing pictures we headed outside for a little leg stretch and a few games together - everyone got the giggles during ‘pass the whisper’ including myself and Mrs Kench!!
Before break time we headed back in and modelled activities to choose from after play. We then collected our drinks and our hats before lining up. We always do this a few children at a time in Year 2, as we have to be really sensible and respectful going past the Year 1 classroom. Everyone was amazing, we were very impressed!!
After break the children could choose from the different activities. We had some friendship bracelet and letter writing, making ‘worry catchers’, there way a play dog cafe - with some unusual looking food - as well as other bits to choose from. During this time myself and Mrs Kench were about to chat with everyone, getting to know them a bit better and spend a little bit of time with one another.
We had a great morning and were really proud of all of the children. We can’t wait for September!
