Y4: Meet Mrs Gren!
Today in Science, Year 4 have been learning all about the seven life processes that all living things share!
We started our lesson by heading outside to explore the school grounds and see how many living things we could find. We then discussed what actually makes something living. How do we know that a tree is alive? What about a blade of grass or a tiny insect?
Back in the classroom, we were introduced to a very helpful lady called Mrs Gren! MRS GREN is a way of remembering the seven life processes: Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition. We learnt what each of these means and how they apply to different living things, including plants, animals and humans.
Finally, the children returned to the living things they had discovered outside and wrote about how they demonstrate the seven life processes. This was a great opportunity to apply our new scientific knowledge to real examples from the world around us.
A brilliant lesson full of curiosity, discussion and scientific thinking. Well done, Year 4!
