Times Table Corners:

Maths No Problem: Textbook 5B Chapter 9 Geometry

Lesson 7 – Drawing Lines and Angles

In Focus: Give your child some time to consider the ‘In Focus’ task. They need to work out if it is possible to recreate this angle using a protractor. Can I accurately draw a 10 cm line with a protractor? What would work better? If we start with F to O what should we do first? Make sure you measure accurately!

Your child will need to use a protractor to find the angle of 140º. Allow them time to mark the angle with the protractor and use a ruler to create the final side of their angle. How will you find the length from F to X? Think about where to measure from and to.

Let’s Learn: Textbook 5B Pages 88-89 – Look through Amira’s methods in the stages given and compare back with their own method in their journals.

Guided Practice: Page 90 – Practise drawing an accurate diagram consisting of three angles in the shape of a Y. They will need to use a ruler and a protractor with accuracy. Check the measurements carefully!

Workbook: Complete Worksheet 7 pages 59-60

Advertise Your Town

Persuade your reader to visit Weymouth as their next holiday destination. Think about using persuasive phrases in your writing and including information about the different activities and sights that Weymouth has to offer them!

Topic:

Making Natural Art:

The Woodland Trust have come up with a variety of activities to help keep children busy during this time. Art and crafts are a great way for the children to be creative and inspired by the natural world.

They suggest collecting fallen leaves, petals and sticks and use them to make a picture or sculpture. You could even use the objects as ‘stampers’ or paintbrushes – dipping them in paint and rolling, brushing or stamping them on paper to create interesting patterns and effects.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a great amount of materials readily available – just use whatever you can find. We would love to see any photographs of your wonderful creations!
